MoveMi® – cot and playpen
Naolima’s mission is to market innovative, high-quality products that make parenthood easier. This German start-up asked us to realise the idea of easily transforming a cot into a playpen. For new parents, the volume of children’s products and toys grows massively in the first few years, and living space is often limited.
One significant element in this market are the extensive standards for use and safety that every product must meet. Especially when multiple products and functions are going to be combined. The technical and functional solutions are essential, but alongside the design they must also meet the expectations of the target market.
A practical design with premium quality
The MoveMi® is a world first in the market. It is space-saving and can easily be transformed from a cosy cot to a large playpen and back again in just one second and using just one arm. Even when you are holding the baby. The cot, which can also be used as a co-sleeper, is height-adjustable to 6 5 levels. This means the carer and the child are always close together and can see one another. It can be moved around the room effortlessly, and when folded it fits through any doorway. The materials used and the mattress are high-quality, natural, safe and baby-friendly.
The product won an Innovation Award at the Kind & Jugend fair after its launch and won the prestigious Red Dot Award for Product Design.
Early analysis and optimisation
At the start of the project, we probed thoroughly and focused sharply on which functionality could actually result in an innovative solution. By directly assessing ideas and sketches against existing standards, it was possible to turn a combination of features into a unique product. By converting existing cots we were able to analyse and optimise concepts early on. A high-quality prototype and a realistic render animation helped convince investors and facilitated a quick handover to manufacturers.
Innovation that meets stringent safety requirements for children's products
There are very high safety requirements for children’s products. With our experience in this field, we were able to advise Naolima® on this and the right solutions were implemented. This product is being tested and approved by TUV Rheinland in accordance with the applicable European safety standards (EN 716-1/2 and EN 12227). The materials chosen are natural, antistatic and antibacterial. Non-toxic water-based paint has been used.
In order to be able to deliver the highest quality, the responsible choice was made to manufacture the MoveMi® in Europe, with a short, efficient supply chain as an added bonus.
